A Note from the Field: Pacifica for Bernie’s fabulous Fog Fest fete

I got a note from Kirsten Schwind from Pacifica for Bernie:

Hi Chris,

I’m submitting pics and a report back from Pacifica for Bernie, that you can use for Twitter, Instagram, newsletter, etc.

Fog Fest is the biggest community event of the year in Pacifica, with a large parade and street festival. My husband Mike and I organized an art party with the burgeoning Pacifica for Bernie group at our place last Tuesday to make signs. And of course posed our adorable bulldog with them.

We’d planned to enter the Fog Fest parade with a fabulous giant art bus, but it broke down on the way back from Burning Man 😄.  So, to honor Bernie’s commitment to climate action, we became a pedestrian contingent.

On Saturday morning our group of 12 boogied down the streets of Pacifica to Bernie’s spoken word reggae version of “This Land is Our Land” on our speakers. We handed out 200 half sheet flyers just to the people who were cheering and ran out 2/3 of the way through. I should have made more! Best of all we had a ton of fun, and solidified our local group for our debate watching party on the 13th and future action.

Best,
Kirsten
